Some businesses require serial numbers for all USB devices attached to their network. The Window Device Manager console displays a list of all your USB peripherals and provides you with detailed specifications. When browsing this detailed information, you can find the serial number of a USB device. Examples of USB devices are flash key, mouse, keyboard and wireless adapter.
1.Connect a USB device to an empty port on your computer or laptop.
2.Click 'Start,' right-click 'Computer' and select 'Manage.' Select 'Device Manager' from the Computer Management console. Alternatively, click the Windows orb and type 'device' (without quotes) in the instant search menu. 'Device Manager' appears in the list to select.
3.Expand 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers.' A list of USB controllers and devices appears.
4.Right-click on the USB device and select 'Properties.' This allows you to view the detailed information of the USB device.
5.Select the 'Details' tab and in the Property drop-down menu, select 'Serial Number.' Click 'OK' to close the window.
